Bordered by I-35 on the West, 183 on the East and North, and Lady Bird Lake on the South, East Austin offers a vibrant blend of one-of-a-kind restaurants, music and art venues, and nightlife – so if you haven’t already, make sure to add Ciscos, Juan in a Million, East Side Pies, and Your Mom’s Burgers to your regular dining habits, East Side Drive-In and Okay Mountain to your venues, and Cheer Up Charlies and Double Down Bar to your nightlife.

Though East Austin has historically been a less expensive area, the arrival of Pedernales Lofts in 2005 began the areas revival – and once the demand for urban but affordable units was realized, soon to follow in it’s footsteps were Waterstreet Lofts and many more throughout 2007. The majority of the new development has primarily occurred either West of Airport or in the Mueller area, and though the nationwide staggering economy temporarily slowed this growth, the area is now rebounding with higher popularity than ever – and with good reason! With a light rail station and I-35 providing quick and easy access to get around Austin, close proximity to Downtown on just the other side of I-35, and so much to do already in the area, there’s just no other part of this city that can replicate the diversity and energy that is found in East Austin.
