French Place Real Estate

Trendy enough for hipsters, quiet enough for families. Close to everything you need and far enough away to avoid the traffic. Affordability, convenience, and beauty all come together in this fully gentrified neighborhood.

Also known as Cherrywood, like the gorgeous tree-lined street of the same name which runs straight through the neighborhood, this area is just east I-35 between Manor and 38 1/2 th and west of Airport Blvd. French Place properties are colorful and eclectic. Just drive around sometime to check out the oddly shaped doors and multi-colored paint-jobs of the French Place real estate. Try to find the incredible tree house on Hemlock and Walnut if you get a chance. They may be a little different, but these homes are all very nice and well cared for. There are some apartments on Manor, but most of the French Place homes single-family bungalows, as well as some duplexes here and there.

Within biking distance of the University of Texas and Concordia, the neighborhood is populated by a mix of students, professors, artists, musicians, and young professionals. Many of whom you can find on Manor, the cultural and business center of the neighborhood. You might find them sipping espressos and wine at the Ikea-styled Clementine. Or they could be catching a play at the Vortex and soon they'll be able to enjoy even more live theater at the new permanent location for the Salvage Vanguard. Or they might be eating great Mexican meals at El Chile or having a quick taco and a refreshing horchata at its little sister El Chilito – all on Manor.

Groceries aren't far either, there's either the H-E-B across the highway. But if you're feeling adventurous or thrifty, try shopping Fiesta for a change. And for laundry, you really can't beat Home Steam, Austin 's favorite curb-side laundry service, also conveniently located on Manor. Every year in December the Cherrywood Art Fair rocks the neighborhood and displays some of Austin 's best art.

Often called the new Hyde Park for a reason, this neighborhood is growing fast. So get in here while you still can.
